Respected pollster Scott Rasmussen recently admonished Republicans to change their tune, not their message. He’s dead right, and that advice applies to issues across the board, not just the debate on tax rates.
The left says, “The rich should pay their fair share of taxes!” Well, who believes in unfair taxes? The debate should be over what is “fair,” not over fairness. Is 30 percent fair when half of all working adults pay no taxes at all? Is that “fair”?

Senator Robert Menendez has confirmed an AP report that he had an unpaid intern working in his office who was an illegal alien as well as a registered sex offender.
It was learned after the intern was arrested by immigration authorities, that The Homeland Security Department held off the federal agents arrest of the intern until after Election Day, a U.S. official involved in the case told the AP. Menendez, a Democrat from New Jersey, claimed to be unaware of the status of his intern, and just learned of the arrest.

Deja vu: A New "Gang of Eight"
Once again a group of senators have created a cabal to debate immigration reform, as reported in POLITICO.
Current members of the group: Democratic Senators Chuck Schumer (NY), Dick Durbin (IL), Michael Bennet (CO), Bob Menendez (NJ), and Republican Senators John McCain (AZ), Lindsey Graham (SC), Mike Lee (UT) and Senator elect Jeff Flake (AZ).
Senator Chuck Schumer, during an appearance on "Meet the Press,” announced that he and Senator Lindsey Graham were joining forces again on immigration, picking up where they left off in 2010 when they authored a four-point comprehensive reform proposal.
“Graham and I are talking to our colleagues about this right now and I think we have a darn good chance using this blueprint to get something done this year,” Schumer said on the Nov. 11 show. “The Republican Party has learned that being … anti-immigrant doesn’t work for them politically and they know it.”
